NOTE: Tom Tullis will be web conferencing in for this course due to unforeseen health issues. Cheryl Tullis will be there in person.
On a scale of Great to Awesome, how do you feel about creating successful surveys? Want to write far better questions than that one? Want to design effective, unbiased, and informative surveys that help you learn about your users’ needs, desires, preferences, and more? Then this session is for you. You’ll learn general survey design principles, how to ask demographic questions, key question types and when to use them (e.g., Likert scales, semantic differential, response grids), how to recruit respondents, using surveys to identify and prioritize user needs (e.g., MaxDiff), using surveys to get feedback related to something people currently use as well as new designs or prototypes (e.g., “first-click” questions), using surveys to get feedback about mobile apps (with QR codes), using standard surveys like SUS, NPS, and UEQ, how to maximize data quality (e.g., including “speed bumps” in a survey), and an overview of popular online survey tools. |
