Ambiguous UX Skills and using them to advance your career and the profession

Ambiguous UX Skills and using them to advance your career and the profession

Ambiguous: open to more than one interpretation; having a double meaning.

Usually, in our every-day work lives, we strive to be specific in all we do — to have a singular focus to everything we deliver.

But as it turns out, ambiguity, rather than being a negative, can have a very positive set of outcomes when related to UX skills.

So what are “ambiguous” UX skills?

This presentation will discuss the dual nature of much of what we do as UX practitioners. The following skills will be addressed both from their traditional meaning, and also, a more expansive meaning that will benefit us as UX practitioners. They include:

  • Communication
  • Business Understanding
  • Process
  • Empathy

The presentation is intended to give practitioners a way to view their role, and to seek ways to enhance their influence by going beyond the obvious to a new level of organizational impact.
